Do you think sitcom portrayals matter? Well I have a few opinions that I want to share.
There are sitcoms that are fictional and there are those that are non-fictional. I believe it does matter, however it should not be taken personal. Sitcoms sends messages for many. Depending on the sitcom and the characters created, it can provide information that may relate and can help individuals, families and friends solve real life situations. There's the humor sitcoms that with a good laugh can bring people together and there are serious sitcoms that allow people to see a point in situations that as human beings we fail to see and realize.
I mean if it’s meant to send a message, then yes, a sitcom representation does matter and the role being played should be taken into consideration but not compared to a reality situation being our lives are lived same but different. But if a sitcom is created to bring humor and laughter out of fictional character, it should not matter because it is to bring and give people a good time, and a good laugh is always needed after a long day. And just as there’s a serious sitcom and a humorous one. An actual nonfictional sitcom can be created where it can relate to one’s actual life, yet with a bit of humor which can give many families a form of ways to overcome difficult situations at work, home, and school. Whether the characters are playing a poor, LGBT, old, happy, grumpy, rich, smart or dumb role.
Every sitcom portrayal does matter in many ways possible because it relates to our ways of life, whatever life that is we have. It helps us see things we fail to see, it gives us a moment to laugh and relax from an overwhelming day, and gives us insight of situations that occur around us.
What is your opinion and why do you feel that way?
